Honeylocust

Gleditsia triacanthos

(Large size; Eastern Northern American range)

Easily identified by the tiny leaflets, the honeylocust throws an open shade allowing for a good lawn beneath. Look for golden-yellow fall color and long twisted brown pods on some trees. Thornless varieties are used for landscaping.
