Entry to the city parks is by park pass permit only. Applications are processed annually to residents in April, using the water billing mailing list. Passes can be validated for each resident, six years and older. New residents must show proof of residency. New residents include residents who have moved to another Grosse Pointe Woods address, anyone newly added to the list and any non-head of household 21 years or older. Please read the instructions on the front of the park pass application. Each resident, six years of age and older must have a validated pass to gain entry to parks, which is good from May l to April 30. Park Passes are non-transferable.
Lost, stolen or mislaid passes may be replaced for a fee of $20 for each pass, limited to one duplicate per person per calendar year. Duplicate passes do not include guest privileges, except with City Council approval.
These passes are issued for out-of-town guests, coming 100 miles or more, and staying for an extended period of time.
This pass costs $10. It is issued to a household and may be used by any non-resident caregiver. It may be used only when accompanied by the resident or child requiring caregiver services.
Each park pass has 14 summer (May 1 – Oct. 31) and 20 winter (Nov. 1 – Apr. 30) punches which can be used to bring guests into the park. Residents must accompany guests into the park; guest lists are not accepted at the front gate. On weekdays throughout the year, each resident is entitled to one free guest without receiving a punch on a park pass. In the summer, any resident planning to have a picnic with a large number of non-residents may apply for a pass at the Community Center or Lake Front Park office. In the winter, each punch can be used to bring in up to three non-resident guests; this includes the “free” guest on weekdays.
