NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
Notice is hereby given that the Grosse Pointe Woods City Council, meeting as the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) under the provisions of Public Act 110 of 2006, MCL 125.3101 through 125.3702 as amended, and Grosse Pointe Woods City Code of 2022 Chapter 50, Article 7, Section 50-7.15, will consider the following on July 13, 2026:
A variance at 839 Cook Road (014-02-0124-002) to construct an addition to an existing, non-conforming single-family residence. The variance is requested from Section 50-3.1.B: Rear Yard Setback:
A 28-foot rear yard setback is required.
A 23-foot rear yard setback is proposed.
A variance of 5-feet is requested.
The ZBA hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 13, 2026, at 7:00pm, at City Hall in the Council Chamber/Courtroom (20025 Mack Plaza Drive, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236). The application is available for inspection at the City Clerk’s office between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
All interested persons are invited to attend and will be given the opportunity for public comment. The public may appear in person or be represented by counsel. Written comments will be received in the City Clerk’s Office at 20025 Mack Plaza Drive, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236, or at cityclerk@gpwmi.us up to close of business preceding the hearing. Notice is hereby given that the Grosse Pointe Woods City Council will consider the following request from the Grosse Pointe Public School System (GPPSS) on July 13, 2026. The subject property, Grosse Pointe North High School (located at 707 Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236) requests the City’s consideration of a Traffic Control Order to open and restrict access to Wedgewood Drive:
- To limit the opening of the Wedgewood Drive stub street into the Grosse Pointe North High School for the purpose of only allowing buses carrying students with disabilities to access the school property.
- To install an electric gate off Wedgewood Drive to limit vehicular access to the buses carrying students with disabilities.
- To extend the 5-foot sidewalk on the west side of Wedgewood Drive to connect to the student gate.
