Marina updates

Over the past seven years the City of Grosse Pointe Woods has invested over $700,000.00 into the Lake Front Park Marina.
 

  • In the winter and spring of 2023, an additional four floating docks were added to the marina, bringing the total of floating docks to 30 floating docks.
  • In the winter of 2022, Parks and Recreation staff scraped and painted the seawall at wells 1-53, installed new egress ladders throughout the marina, and updated the electrical around the boat launch.
  • In the spring of 2021, a kayak launch pad was installed and an additional kayak rack of 32 spaces was added at a cost of $52,731.
  • In the winter of 2021, Parks and Recreation employees painted the marina seawall and rails. In addition, dock numbers have been added to the water side of the docks so boaters will be able to easily identify their well from the water.
  • In the winter of 2021, the City Council approved an additional 36 kayak storage rack to be installed and purchase of a new kayak launch pad at a cost of $52,000.00.
  • In the spring of 2019, the Department of Public Works raised all the docks another 12 inches due to the record breaking lake levels, installed a berm to hold back Lake St. Clair water levels, and built steps to safely cross the berm onto the docks at a cost of $50,000.00.
  • In the spring of 2018, the Department of Public Works raised all the docks 12 inches due to the lake level rising at a cost of $16,000.00.
  • In 2018, the City of Grosse Pointe Woods installed a new water main in the marina at a cost of $126,000.00.
  • In 2018, the City of Grosse Pointe Woods installed new shore power boxes in the marina at a cost of $360,000.00.
  • In 2017, the City of Grosse Pointe Woods purchased new floating docks for the jet skis and the boat ramp at a cost of $23,000.00.
  • In 2017, the  Department of Public Works added new kayak rack with 36 additional spaces for residents at a cost of $10,000.00.

 

On September 9, 2019 the City Council voted to approve an increase the marina fees by 5% for the next season (2020) and by 3% for the following four years (2021-2024).
