Oak Wilt Disease

Oak wilt is a deadly disease affecting oak trees caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum. A tree’s demise from oak wilt occurs rapidly with symptoms consisting of leaf discoloration, wilt, and defoliation. It is important to avoid wounding or pruning oak trees during the growing season from April 15 to July 15 to prevent spreading the disease.
