Yard Waste & Fall Clean Up

Leaf Pickup Map

There is limited curbside pick-up of yard waste from December 19, 2022 through March 16, 2023. Curbside pick-up of bagged leaves and other yard waste will continue through December 14, 2023. December 18, 2023 through March 14, 2024 residents may bring bags to Public Works for disposal. Residents must stop in the office to show proof of residence.  See the Rubbish Guidelines and Rubbish Pickup Schedule for more information.

From October 2 through the week of November 27, 2023 (weather permitting), leaves only may be raked into the gutter for vacuuming on your collection day. Leaves are collected as shown on the Leaf Pickup Map. Do not mix other garden waste, twigs, or grass clippings with leaves because it can damage the equipment. Mixed piles will not be picked up. Leaves cannot be vacuumed beneath parked cars so avoid parking on the street on your leaf collection day.

Yellow “compost” stickers are available at City Hall and DPW.

Wood must meet the same size requirements as brush and branches, and must have any nails bent over or removed to prevent injury.

Michigan law requires all yard waste be composted - it may not be disposed of in a regular landfill. Yard waste will be collected the third full week of March of each year and running through the second full week of December. All yard waste, including garden waste, grass clippings, leaves, twigs, shrubs, tree trimmings and pruning waste, must be disposed of in paper yard waste bags or 32-35 gallon containers labeled “yard waste” or “compost”. Containers and contents must not exceed 50 pounds.
