Solid Waste

All rubbish must be in disposable plastic trash bags, not less than .0015 mills in thickness. Odd-shaped objects not suitable for bags should be placed beside the trash. When the bin is full, on limited occasions, additional rubbish may be placed next to the bin that have been properly tied and secured in plastic bags that are a minimum of 1.5 mils thick. According to city code, rubbish, yard waste, recycling and brush must be out for collection no later than 7 a.m. the morning of collection and no earlier than 5 p.m. the evening prior to pick-up day.

HEAVY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS: GFL Environmental will pick-up stoves, refrigerators and freezers (with doors removed), furniture, etc., on your regular pick-up day. Call 343-2460 48 hours ahead to notify. If you have extra rubbish due to a move, please make arrangements for a dumpster rental or contact the DPW for more information.

MATTRESSES and BOX SPRINGS: Starting immediately mattresses and box springs must be placed in bags mattress covers for rubbish pick-up by GFL Environmental.

Latex paint may be solidified with kitty litter, sand or sawdust or dried by removing the lid. This is a water-based product and is not hazardous. Once paint is dry, open container may be placed next to trash for pick up with rubbish.
